What is a beard transplant?
A beard transplant is a surgical operation performed at DK Klinik to restore or improve facial hair utilizing cutting-edge techniques including Direct Hair Implantation (DHI) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE).
To get a fuller, more defined appearance, healthy hair follicles from the back or sides of the scalp are taken out during the operation and placed into the beard region.
While DHI provides the extra advantage of immediate implantation without prior channel creation, FUE lets one precisely harvest individual follicles. Both techniques guarantee natural, permanent results, catered to your facial characteristics and preferred beard style.
How does the procedure work?
1. Blood Collection
We begin by collecting a small sample of your blood. This helps us analyze your vitamin, mineral, and hormone levels, identifying any factors that could affect your beard growth. This step ensures we are fully prepared before starting the procedure.
2. Taking Photos
We take photos of your face from multiple angles to compare your beard before and after the procedure. This allows us to measure the success of the transplantation and monitor your progress.
3. Beard Design
In this step, we design your new beard, taking into account your facial features, existing beard, and preferences. Our goal is to create a natural, balanced look that complements your appearance.
4. Hair Shaving
We shave the donor area to provide a clear view for the extraction. This ensures precision during the procedure and optimal results in the recipient area. The shaved area will regrow naturally after the transplant.
5. Calculating Grafts
We calculate the number of grafts needed to achieve your desired beard density. This ensures we meet your expectations in terms of coverage and natural appearance.
6. Final Health Checks
Before the procedure, we perform final health checks, including measuring blood pressure and checking vital signs, to ensure you are fit for the beard transplant.
7. Local Anesthesia
We apply local anesthesia to the donor and recipient areas to ensure your comfort during the procedure. This keeps you pain-free while remaining awake throughout.
8. Harvesting
We use micro FUE to extract hair follicles from the donor area. Each follicle is carefully separated to create grafts, which will later be transplanted into the beard area.
9. Lunch Break
You’ll have a one-hour lunch break where you can relax and enjoy a meal. This gives you time to recharge before we continue with the remaining steps.
10. Transplantation
Finally, we use the DHI or FUE method to transplant the grafts into the beard area, ensuring a natural and full-looking result tailored to your preferences.
Who is a Good Candidate for a Beard Transplant?
- Men with patchy or uneven beard growth are ideal for those dealing with thin or patchy places where facial hair grows inconsistently.
- Men experiencing facial hair loss brought on by either injury or genetics: The operation helps those who have lost beard hair due to burns, scars, or genetic elements.
- Men with enough donor hair must have enough healthy hair follicles in the donor area—usually the scalp—available to be transferred into the beard.
- Those without chronic medical disorders or with well-managed chronic ailments should either be free from chronic diseases or have any current conditions under control to guarantee a seamless recovery and best results.
- Men seeking a permanent cure to beard hair loss will find it ideal since the transplanted hair will keep growing organically
What to Do and Avoid After a Beard Transplant
After a beard transplant, it’s normal to have some redness and swelling in the donor and beard areas. This usually gets better after a few days. Small scabs will form around the new hair and will fall off within 10-15 days. You might feel some tightness or mild discomfort, but this will go away as you heal.
In the first 2-3 weeks, the transplanted hair will shed, which is normal and called ‘shock loss.’
New beard hair will start growing after 3-4 months, but it may take up to 9-12 months to see the full results.
During this time, it’s important not to touch or scratch the area to avoid infection and help healing.
Be sure to follow the clinic’s aftercare advice, including how to gently moisturize and clean the area.

What to Do and Avoid After a Beard Transplant
– Avoid touching or scratching the beard area
– No shaving for 10-15 days
– Avoid intense physical activity for 7-10 days
-Don’t touch or rub the beard area, especially during the first week
-No shaving or trimming for at least 10-14 days
-Keep your head elevated while sleeping for the first few days
-Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 2 weeks
-No smoking or alcohol for at least a week
-Avoid hot showers, steam baths, and saunas for 2 weeks
-No swimming for at least 2 weeks
